Obituary of Robert H. Kenyon

Mr. Robert H. Kenyon, age 75, died peacefully on Saturday morning, June 6, 2009 with family and friends by his side at his home at Caroga Lake. He was born on October 9, 1933 in Johnstown, and attended Johnstown schools. He was brought up by his mother and step-father, Emeroy and John Henry Atty. He served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War. He lived most of his life in Tribes Hill and came to Caroga Lake about three years ago. He also wintered in Zephyr Hills, Florida for several years. Robert was employed in the Gas Turbine Dept. at General Electric Co; Schenectady, for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #2077, American Legion Post #137 and Moose Lodge #351, all of Gloversville, and the Fulton County Antique Car Club. He was a 32 year member of the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. Survivors include two sons, Todd R. Kenyon of Saratoga Springs and Felix A. Matuk Yavonne of Johnstown; three granddaughters, Ashley Kenyon, Jessica Matuk and Catherine Matuk. Also surviving are Robert's companion, Beverly Pickering and her son Timmer of Caroga Lake. Robert was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Kenyon, in 1980. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9 with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment with Military Honors will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown.
