Obituary of Pauline LaBate

Pauline LaBate, formerly of Chapel Place, Amsterdam and Prestwick Chase, Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs. Born in Amsterdam on July 5, 1921, the daughter of the late Dominic and Josephine Messineo LaBate. She was a graduate of Wilbur H.Lynch High School and the Amsterdam School Of Commerce. Pauline began a thirty five year career in banking and retired as a customer service officer for Key Bank in Amsterdam. She was an active member of the community serving on the Citizen's Advisory Committee during Mayor Gomulka's administration. She was a member and past president of the Credit Women International, St.Mary's Hospital Auxiliary where she served as a hospital volunteer for many years, St.Anthony's Auxiliary of the former St. Michael The Archangel Church and volunteered as a Partner To Assist Youth in elementary schools. In banking, Pauline was active with the New York Bankers Association, the Key bank Quarter Century Club and the American Institute Of Banking. Her siblings, Anthony and Thomas LaBate, Antoinette Fontecchio Carmella Cipullo, and Sarah Iannotti all predeceased her. She leaves her dear brother Frank and his wife Jean LaBate of Amsterdam, as well as many loving nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral Services are Saturday at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Church. Fr.Pascal A. Iannotti, celebrant. Interment is in the family plot in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. It was Pauline's request that contributions may be made in her memory to the St .Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Mary's Church, both in care of the funeral home office.
