Obituary of Richard M. Mugler

Mr. Richard Miller "Tookie" Mugler, Jr., 71, of Sate Highway 30, Perth, died suddenly on May 18, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Millerton, NY he was the son of the late Richard M. Mugler, Sr. and Doris Clark Grau. Richard grew up in Millerton and moved to the area 20 years ago. He was employed by New York State as a driver until his retirement. He served honorably with the United States Army from 1956 until 1958. An avid collector, Richard enjoyed going to auctions, collecting coins and paperweights. He loved to hunt and fish and was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be sadly missed. Survivors include his children, Deborah Mugler of Pittsfield and Richard M. Mugler III of Seattle, WA; The mother of his children, Virginia Mugler of West Point, VA.; two sisters, Betty Zitz and her husband Peter of Rhinebeck, NY and Barbara Rueger of Huntington, West Virginia; his longtime companion, Judy Barto and her family of Perth and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Legacy Candle Ceremony and Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 12 noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam where his arrangements have been entrusted. A calling hour will precede the funeral beginning at 11. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Inernment will take place at a later date in Copake, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
