Obituary of Eleanor F. Gordon

Eleanor F. Gordon, 66, passed away peacefully Friday, May 15, 2009 at home with her family by her side. She was born November 29, 1942 in Gloversville, the daughter of Andrew and Leona Conklin Davis. She was a life long resident of the area. Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Eleanor was educated in the Northville School District. On June 23, 1961 Eleanor married Herbert S. Gordon and shared 47 years united in marriage until his passing on November 8, 2008. She was a member of both AARP and Weight Watchers. In the 1970's, Eleanor lost 152 lbs. and was recognized by Weight Watchers for her achievement. Eleanor is survived by a son, Michael Gordon Valencia of Dolgeville; a daughter, Eleanor L. Gordon Nicole Laverdure of Gloversville, three grandchildren: Nicole Stuart MA1SWBrian Stuart of Maine, MA3 Jason Gordon Amber of Maine and Christy Knight Greg; five great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Cameron, Carter, Colbie Brian and Dylan; a brother Sanford Davis Evelyn of Gloversville, and a sister Anna Mae King of Virginia. In addition to her husband Herbert, Eleanor was preceded in death by a brother Edward Davis; three sisters Ruth Deming, Betty Jean Kenyon, and Claudia Lais; and her beloved dog Champ. There will be no services or calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville.
