Obituary of Rose VanWie

Rose VanWie 86, of Pawling Street, passed away late Thursday morning at St. Mary's Hospital with loving family at her side. Born in Amsterdam on May 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Jecauskas Vitas. She lived in this area her entire life. Rose was employed for the former Nealon Adult Home in Hagaman as activities director until she retired in 1988. A communicant of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, she was a homemaker and loved to bake and work in her flower garden. On September 28, 1941, she was united in marriage to William VanWie; he predeceased her on January 19, 2006. She leaves her sons, William J. Joan VanWie of Hagaman and David Mary Beth VanWie of Edinburgh; daughters, Carol Anderson of Hagaman and Elizabeth John Gross of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Shelley Michael Cloutier, Beth Gross, Mary Nathan Bryant and Jonathan and William VanWie; great grandchildren, Cody and Taylor Cloutier; her sister, Ann Ruback of Smithtown, LI and nieces and nephews. Services are Monday at 9:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Stephen's Church with Fr. Martin DeRose celebrant. Interment is in St. Casimir's Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-6 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her memory to St. Stephen's Church, the Montgomery County Office of the Aging or CHC all in care of the funeral home office.
