Obituary of Victor Salvione

Mr. Victor "Skip" Salvione, Jr; age 62 of Gloversville, died Tuesday morning, May 12, 2009 surrounded by his family at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. He was born on December 29, 1946 in Gloversville, the son of the late Victor, Sr. and Ethel Miller Salvione. A lifelong Gloversville resident, he was employed by Gloversville Embossing Company, Crescent Leather Company, Karg Brothers Inc. and Holiday Theater. Skip was a member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge and VFW Post #2077. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and hunting. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include five children, Connie VanDeusen, Ted Salvione Stacy, Carol Pratt, April Jazeboski Steve and Pam Hart; two brothers, Theodore Salvione Carole and Kenneth Salvione Shirley. Skip's sister also survives, Frances Watson Barry and has been an inspiration to Skip and the entire family. 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, one aunt and one uncle also survive, as well as special friends Rose Kelly and Barbara Bode. The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd; Loudonville, NY 12211 or to the Gloversville Lions Club, P.O. Box 8, Gloversville, NY 12078.
