Obituary of Francis Lizor

Francis Lizor, 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Wells House in Johnstown. He was born January 3, 1920, in Quincy, PA, the son of the late Clifford and Rose Bernadette Saunders Lizor. Francis served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. from 1942 to 1946. He worked for the Leader Herald in the commercial printing department. On June 29, 1946, Francis was united in marriage to Genevieve Burr, who survives. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling. Francis and Genevieve once travelled across the country on a bus and spent every summer vacationing on the southern coast of Maine for over twenty years. Above all, Francis adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons: Francis Lizor, Jr. and his wife, Paula of Gloversville and Jim Lizor and his wife Anne of Queensbury; one daughter, Jane Cornell and her husband Paul of Gloversville; four grandchildren: David Vicki Lizor, Renee Kesh Tayal, Aaron Lizor and Siobhan Cornell; two great grandchildren: Emily Tayal and Gavin Lizor; two sisters: Margaret Spencer and Sue Cross, both of Baltimore, MD and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited and may call Tuesday, May 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville with the Very Reverend Donald Czelusniak as celebrant. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Francis' memory to St, Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, 149 South Main Street, Gloversville 12078, the North Main Street United Methodist Church, 316 North Main Street, Gloversville 12078 or to the charity of one's choosing.
