Obituary of Albert D. Hage

Albert D. Hage, 85, formerly of the High Rise Apartments, Wall Street, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Utica, NY on November 7, 1923, he was the son of the late Joseph and Adele Shaffer Hage. He lived in Amsterdam for most of his life. He was employed by several local firms in the area including Mohasco, Ward Products and Mohawk Sportswear. Also he worked at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and Key Bank. He retired from St. Mary's Institute as a custodian. Albert was a well known musician in the area, playing "bones and spoons". He appeared not only in the Memorial Hospital Follies, but nationally on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour, as well as many local telethons and benefits. He was involved with youth sports, umpiring the Wee Men Minors team for twenty five years. Albert was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. He leaves his beloved wife, the former Mary A. Coppola; daughter; Rita Amodeo of Amsterdam;; grandchildren; Michael Amodeo, Jeanny Miller, Nicholas and Anthony Leonetti, Theresa Craig, Brian and Daniel Kosinski; nine great grandchildren; sisters in law, Phyllis Hage, Dolores Hage and Joan Hage; as well as nieces , nephews and cousins. He was predeased by brothers: Paul, Thomas, Cecil and Edward Hage. Services are Tuesday at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St.Mary's Church. Fr. John Medwid, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson. A calling period will begin at 9:00 am Tuesday prior to the funeral. Contributions may be made in Albert's memory to St. Mary's Church, or St. Mary's Institute, both in care of the funeral home office.
