Obituary of Alice M. Smith

Mrs. Alice M. Smith, age 71, of Gloversville, died Wednesday morning, April 29, 2009 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady. She was born on March 23, 1938 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Leo Unger, Sr. and Ethel Mae Walker Unger. She was employed by N. A. Taylor Company in Gloversville for most of her life until her retirement in 1999. Alice enjoyed camping and picnicking, and in the past also enjoyed bowling. She is survived by her two children, Cindy L. Marler Jeffrey of Caroga Lake and Randy W. Smith Dawn of Gloversville and their father Cubby Smith. Additional survivors include four sisters and brothers, Joan Thompson, Leo Unger, Jr; Lyda Kadle and Anthony Unger, Sr; two grandchildren, Justin Thomas Roehl and Katelynn Mae Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Unger and Alfred Unger. A private service will take place at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Judes Research Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville.
