Obituary of John A. Constantino

John A. Constantino Jr. , 86 of Reidel Road, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Amsterdam on July 19, 1922, he was the son of the late John and Josephine Conti Constantino Sr. A lifelong resident, he was a 1940 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. John then entered the US Army and served in the Pacific Theater Of Operations. He was awarded the World War II Victory medal, Asiatic & Pacific medal and Good Conduct medal. Upon his return, he began a lifelong career as a meat cutter working first for the A&P in Amsterdam and later for a number of years at the A&P in Gloversville as well as Packer's Meats of Amsterdam. He retired in 1982. John then worked as a real estate agent for a time. He loved camping and being outdoors , was an avid bowler and a member of the Dusty Boots Riding Club. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. He was united in marriage to the former Margaret Faulds on September 6, 1942. She predeceased him on December 22, 2002. He leaves his children; a son, John A. Constantino III and his wife Georgianne , a daughter JoAnn and her husband Harry Piurek all of Amsterdam; grandsons, David Mary and Steven Alia Constantino. A prayer service will take place Friday at 9:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Fr. John Medwid officiating. Interment will follow in Hagaman Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours are this evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Fulton County Office Of The Aging in care of the funeral home office.
