Dear Family
I worked with Dick at Colonial Tanning in the 1980's. He was a very special person in my life. The Lord has blessed me with a grandfather figure where ever I have worked. We had alot of fun at the Moose.
We moved to Conway, SC about 20 min. from Myrtle Beach and opened the Lazy River Cafe in 1996. They would visit during their time down here and we spent Thanksgivings together at a restaurant at the beach. We looked forward to those falls. The last year they came to say good-bye we all cried when Dick said it would be their last time as it was too difficult to drive that distance anymore they were both having medical problems. Dick had come back so many times from surgery with more lives than a cat. He was truly a miracle man. We loved them both very much and send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Heaven is Blessed by their presence.
Respectfully
Bev&Tom

To Dick Riley and family,
My mother, Barbara Riley, married Dick's brother Joe in 1988. Even though I only met Dick a couple of times, I wanted to reflect on his passing. Joe was able to fly up to see Dick in November of last year and was very happy to visit Dick in what would be the last time. In previous years, Dick and Edith would visit Mom and Joe each fall as they made their way to their winter home in Myrtle Beach and then in the spring on their way back to NY. I often heard how Joe enjoyed these visits and I know he missed seeing Dick in recent years. Also I know how badly Joe would like to have been there today but due to some recent health concerns of his own, just could not. Joe generally is doing well as he is surrounded by life long friends and his wife's extended family in Salisbury, NC. Joe also stays in touch with his three daughters and their families in Colorado, Tennessee, and North Carolina. I do believe Richard "Dick" Riley had a wonderful and full life and I would like to express my most sincere condolences to his family from both myself and my wife, Jenny.

Dear Family of Uncle Dick,
Though we didn't see or spend much time with Uncle Dick and Aunt Edith, I have fond memories of the times we were together. When we were very young, Uncle Dick played Santa Claus and made a special visit to us young Riley children. I didn't know until many years later who it REALLY was. Most of all, I will remember Dick because he and my dad, Joe, were so very close and loving. When I spoke to Dad after hearing about Dick, he was extremely sad that his beloved brother was now gone, even though he knew that Dick was growing more and more frail and losing his memory. I am so grateful that my sister, Chris and her husband, Lynn, were able to take Dad to see Dick and their Aunt Gladys last fall. What a wonderful reunion for all concerned! Dad kept saying, "I don't won't to wait and just go to Dick's funeral. I want to see him before it's too late!". I am so glad they both had the opportuntity to spend those last days together. So, as you say goodbye to Uncle Dick, I will be praying that you have wonderful memories to share as a family.
Peace,
Cathy Riley Hyer

we just visited Dick at Pine View a month ago, we could see that he was really going downhill. We lived across the street from Dick and Edith, and we sure miss them both. Well now they are together again and I'm sure much happier. Rest in peice Dick and Edith
