Obituary of Nora Sue DiManno

Mrs. Nora Sue DiManno, 58, of State Hwy 161, Amsterdam, passed away Saturday April 18th, 2009 at St. Mary?s Hospital following a long illness with her loving family by her side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 27th, 1950 a daughter of Edwin and Nora Mae Koch Hardies. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended local schools. Nora Sue was a 1968 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Mrs. DiManno first worked as Hairdresser and later was a Teacher?s Aide at the former McCleary Ave School in Amsterdam. She also was employed for Price Chopper, and worked for a time as a Nurse?s Aide at St. Mary?s Hospital and last worked for Highland Gardens Apartments as a Clerical Secretary in Amsterdam. One of Mrs. DiManno?s passions was her own Chocolate making business that she ran for many years. Nora Sue enjoyed camping and fishing with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, coloring, reading and most recently taking care of plants. She was a given a lifetime PTA member award for her work in Amsterdam schools. Nora Sue also volunteered much of her time to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A. She was a communicant of the former St. Joseph?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She is survived by her husband, Louis M. DiManno whom she married on August 23rd, 1970. In addition to her husband survivors include her Mother Nora Mae Hardies of Amsterdam. One son, Louis P. DiManno Crystal Thompson of Amsterdam. One daughter, Allison N. DiManno Joseph Figueroa of Amsterdam. Two brothers, Dr. Michael J. Hardies Cheryl Lewis of Amsterdam and Sean K. HardiesMarilyn of Amsterdam. Three sisters, Colleen Medwid Michael of Amsterdam, Kathy LaConte Jim of Bradenton, Florida and Kelly DiamondTim of Amsterdam, NY. Four grandchildren, Kiara and Hailee Alicea and Louis E. and Nathan DiManno. Uncle and Aunt, Jack and Eleanor Hardies. Father in Law, Salvatore DiManno. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Princess. Mrs. DiManno was predeceased by her Father Edwin K. Hardies and Mother in law Ruth DiManno. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday April 21st, 2009 at 11:30A.M. at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, East Main St. Amsterdam with Father John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson , NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday morning April 21st, 2009 from 9:00 to 11:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Nora Sue?s family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at St. Mary?s Hospital for their care, especially the ER Staff, William Hall Staff, PCU Unit, Pastoral Care, Fr. John Medwid, Dr. Adam Snyder and Dr. Alexander Zimmerman. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A., State Hwy 5S., Amsterdam, NY 12010.
