Dear Doc,
I was so sad to hear that you have left us. I'll always reflect fondly on the Spring of 2004 while I was working with you all at the farm. It was fun to learn from you and I was fortunate to get close to you and your family. You were all very supportive. May you rest in peace.

I was sorry to hear of Docs. passing but we should all live so long, embrace life so fully and give so much back.
There was something special about
Doc. I guess it was his quiet manner and the way he accepted and respected those around him.
I didn't know he played polo or fought at Normandy, to me he was simply Beth's dad, Jon's father inlaw and a highly skilled country vet.
I am sure he recieved many frantic late night calls needing his skills and assistance in caring for our furry and feathered friends. I have no doubt he turned very few down.
There is a special place in the hereafter for those who care for those that walk, crawl, fly but cannot speak.
God speed Doc., it was a privilege to have shared your company.

Dr VanWagenen has treated 3-4 generations of my family's critters. He took in and cared for my grandmother's escaped horse after he found it wandering around, injured from getting caught up in barbed fences. It is Vets like him who inspire generations of kids to study Veterinary Medicine. Hats off to you Sir.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Dr. Van Wagenen. He was one of the few "vets" who gave of his skills to all regardless of whether we were regular patients or not. His ongoing clinics showed his genuine concern for the health of our canine friends. Our community was enriched by Doc's gift of veterinary skills to all in need. Please accept my thanks for his service to our Nation during a time when our way of life was in jeopardy. Those of his generation gave much to us.
