Obituary of Ada E. Rounds

Ada E.Rounds, 87, formerly of Fort Hunter, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Sarah Jane Sanford Home for Women. She was born in Mohawk, NY October 15, 1921 a daughter of the late Charles and Sylvia Hopkinson Monroe. Ada was raised in Auriesville and attended Fonda-Fultonville schools, graduating in 1939. She married Leigh Rounds in August of 1940, and together the couple made their home in Fort Hunter where Ada became a life long community builder. During a brief period of time following her marriage she worked at the Library and the Post Office in Fort Hunter. Ada was a natural born leader who could always be counted on by those in need. She was a very involved member and past officer of several organizations including, the 4-H Clubs, Montgomery County Home Demonstration, Fort Hunter Vol. Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Fort Hunter Canal Society, Red Hat Society, Iroquois Seniors, Glen-Mohawk Seniors, and the Inman Center. She was also a former church Deacon, Cub Scout Den Leader, and was the President of the Resident Council at the Sarah Jane Sanford Home where she was an active advocate for all of the women there. In addition to her parents, Ada was predeceased by her husband, Leigh Rounds in 1984, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marjorie and John Rounds, her sister, Edith Flint, brothers-in-law, Frank and Robert Rounds, and a niece, Joan King. Her loving family includes her son, Keith Rounds and his wife Mary Eisenhut-Rounds of Whitesboro, their children, Michael and Lisa Dawn Rounds, Daniel Rounds, John and Tina Eisenhut and Cary and Linda Eisenhut, and her great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Krista and Savannah Rounds and William, Mia, Garrett, Cheyenne and Dalton Eisenhut. Also surviving is her dear sister-in-law, Elaine Rounds of Tribes Hill. Funeral Services will be at 11:00AM on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with Rev. Cynthia Leonard, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to services on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the funeral home. Members of the Iroquois Seniors will meet at 10:30 AM and members of the Glen-Mohawk Seniors will meet at 10:45AM at the funeral home. Contributions in Ada's memory may be made to the Sarah Jane Sanford Home for Women, 69 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010.
