Obituary of Amelia Marie Maas

Amelia "Millie" Maas, age 96, a resident of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversvile, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009. She was born in New York City and spent most of her life in Brooklyn, where she graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School. She was employed by the New York Life Insurance Company for 43 years. Millie retired and moved to Gloversville in 1976 where she remained until the present time. Millie was the cherished sister of Dr. Minerva Maas who survives and resides in Gloversville. As a sister Millie was always loyal, loving, generous and caring. She loved her home and was always grateful for what she had, never sitting down to the table without saying "Thank God for a home and a meal". Millie was of Protestant faith. She was a tireless worker and spent many happy hours fixing up their little camp in Mayfield, where burial will be in Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. Millie loved animals, especially their current dog, Mary, who adored her. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the humane society of your choice. Friends may call from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Carson O. Mouser officiating. Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield.
