Obituary of Mildred Mae Henderson

Fonda Mildred Mae Lethbridge Henderson, 91, of South Main Street, passed away peacefully Monday, March 16, 2009 at her home. She was born in Dresden, NY July 5, 1917 a daughter of the late Charles L. and Mabel A. Childs Lethbridge. Mildred was a resident of Fonda for the last 45 years. She was employed with the Glove mills in Fonda and Fultonville, retiring several years ago. She was also a 32 year member of the Women's Moose Lodge # 685 and was very active, having become a Senior Regent, and having attained the highest position of College of Regents. "Aunt Millie", as she was affectionately known, was an outstanding baker. She would bake and send out cookies, cakes and bread to all of her relatives and friends. She even brought her "goodies" to the grocery store, bank, post office and the insurance company. Mildred's favorite delectable delight, apple slices, were loved by all who had the pleasure of having them. Although she had no grandchildren of her own, Mildred had adopted many over the years whom she treated as her own, and will be sadly missed by all of her family and many friends. Her loving family includes her sister, Edna Holmes of Crown Point, NY and Craddockville, VA. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Mildred was predeceased by her husband William Henderson in 1955, her son Charles Henderson in 1995, her five brothers, Daniel Lethbridge, George C. Lethbridge, Leo C. Lethbridge, Henry Lethbridge and Fred Lethbridge, and two sisters, Eliza Gipe and Florence Woods. Her very special friend, Elmer Young passed away in 1982. At Mildred's request, there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be scheduled for a later date at the convenience of the family. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or to a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to extend a heart-felt thank you to her special friends Doris, Nancy and Sue, for always being there for "Aunt Millie".
