Obituary of Anna Doyle La Mantia

Mrs. Anna Doyle La Mantia, age 83 of Gloversville, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. She was born July 20, 1925 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Lane Doyle. A 1942 graduate of Gloversville High School, she also graduated from the former Amsterdam School of Commerce. Anna was first employed as a court stenographer for the Montgomery County Family Court. She later became employed as a legal secretary for Attorney Harry Pozefsky in Gloversville. She retired from the law firm of Maider and Smith in Gloversville following more than 30 years of service there. Mrs. La Mantia was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Gloversville Business and Professional Women's Association. She was also a member of the former Elks Auxiliary. Anna was married to Anthony "Nino" La Mantia on November 14, 1954. Nino died October 14, 2000. Survivors include Melissa Mazzarelli Gary and daughters Leah and Anna, all of Broadalbin; nieces and nephews: John Frascatore Sharon of Ventura, CA and Michael Frascatore Pam of Palm Desert, CA, Deborah Landrio Robert, Kevin Doyle and Lori Penney, all of Johnstown; step-daughter Mary Ann Berman of Albany; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Peter Doyle, Francis Doyle and Catherine Frascatore, as well as a step-daughter, Stephanie Waskowitz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville. The Very Reverend Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
