Obituary of Brian H. Hynes

Mr. Brian H. Hynes, 73, a resident of Liberty Enterprises Ridge Rd. Residence, passed away Saturday morning February 21, 2009 at his home. Born in Albany, NY on July 4th, 1935 a son of Peter J. and Ida Mae Obrien Hynes. He lived at home until he was 18 years old. In 1953 he moved to the Rome NY developmental center and remained there for 24 years. In 1968 Brian was transferred to the Wilton, NY Developmental Center and lived there for 14 years until becoming a resident of Liberty in 1982. Brian was considered to be a good businessman. He was able to go to work at the Canal St. Day Hab. He was called the "Candyman" and loved to sell candy and make money for himself. He was also the paperboy delivering mail back and forth from the Canal St. Day Hab back to the Ridge Rd. home. He also enjoyed shopping and taking photographs. Brian had a great love for farming equipment and tractors and loved being around children and family especially his niece Tanya and her child Alex. He was a member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church. Mr. Hynes is survived by one sister , Joan Becker of Albany, NY. His housemates on Ridge Rd. in Canajoharie and his extended Liberty family and caregivers. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins. Brian was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Eddie and a sister Alma Stafford. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 24th, 2009 at 2:00P.M. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie NY with Rev. Lisa L. Vander Wal presiding. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. A calling hour will precede the funeral service on Tuesday February 24th, 2009 from 1:00PM to 2:00P.M. at the funeral home.
