Obituary of Frederick C. Machold

Frederick C. "Fred" Machold, 48, of Essex Street, passed away Wednesday morning at Ellis Hospital after a sudden illness. Born in Amsterdam on Sept. 8, 1960, he was the son of Patricia Huptich Machold and the late George F. Machold. Fred was a 1978 graduate of the Broadalbin Perth Central School. A lifelong resident, he was employed by Coleco and later for the former Mohawk Finishing before he retired due to disability. An avid Yankees and football fan, he also bowled at one time. Most recently, he enjoyed his position as a crossing guard for Barkley Micro Society School. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Fred will always be remembered as a loving husband and dad and enjoyed every moment spent with his son. On May 24th 1986 he was united in marriage to the former Cynthia L Liggero. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his son Michael David Machold at home; his mother, Patricia Machold of Ft. Johnson; brother; John "Jack" Cheryl Machold of Florida; sister; Gloria Wessell of Amsterdam; aunts, uncles , nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a dear brother in law, Larry Liggero at home. Services are Saturday at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:15 am at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment is in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cindy Machold for the education fund of she and Fred's son Michael, and can be done thru the funeral home office.
