Obituary of Marianne C. Braasch

Marianne C. Braasch, 55, of Park Street, Richfield Springs, died peacefully Wednesday evening at home with her family by her side. Born in New Jersey on February 12 1953 she was the daughter of the late Hans and Josefa Ossowski Braasch. An area resident for most of her life, she graduated from Fonda- Fultonville High School in 1971. She later went on to attend SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Plattsburgh and Upstate Medical College in Syracuse. Marianne was employed as a medical laboratory technologist at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown until the onset of her illness. She was an avid gardener and was a member of the Richfield Springs Garden Club. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society, Richfield Springs Chapter. She will always be remembered for her love of life and her opinionated attitude. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her loving family includes her brother, Hans Braasch and his wife Lisa of Charleston and their children Jessica and Christopher. One sister, Hannelorie "Lorie" Smith of Colonie and her children, Matthew, Mark and Melissa Brent Humm and their children, Emma, Emily and Ethan; several cousins and many friends, especially Donna Ferlazzo and Grace Talma. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 6 o'clock at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072. A calling period will be held prior to the service beginning at 5 o'clock.
