Obituary of Earl John MIller

Earl John Miller, 85, of Hill St. Alplaus, NY, passed away Friday January 9th, 2009 at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 10, 1923 a son of Edward and Stella Slowakiewicz Miller. Earl was raised in Amsterdam and was a 1941 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Earl worked for a time at the Fownes Glove Company in Amsterdam. He was an Electricians Mate First Class serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946. After his service he went to work for the General Electric Company in Schenectady and remained there until his retirement in 1985. For recreation Mr. Miller enjoyed hunting and Fishing in the Adirondacks and Photography. He was also a meticulous craftsman and problem solver. He was very dependable, trustworthy and loyal. He was also a member of the American Legion. He married Esther Wilson Miller on May 18, 1946 in Amsterdam, NY. In addition to his wife survivors include his son, David Miller Leslie Dean Miller of Needham, Ma. His daughter, Donna Miller of Bozeman, Montana. Two granddaughters, Sara Miller and Anna Miller of Needham, MA. Brother -in-law, John Wilson of Ballston Spa, NY and Samuel Wilson of Clifton Park, NY. Other family members and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Miller at age 64 and Stella Miller at 100 years of age. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 12th, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father John Medwid presiding. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday morning from 10:00 to 12:00Noon prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
