Obituary of Eleanor Theresa Holland

Eleanor Theresa Holland of Amsterdam, New York, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Sanford Home for Women after a short illness. She was born July 16, 1912, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to William J. Lawlor and Elizabeth Libby A. Steen. She was a housewife and a member of Saint Ann's Episcopal Church. She was an avid Yankee Baseball fan and enjoyed homemaking and bowling. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Ethel Marie Holland; two grandsons, Robert Thomas Holland, Jr. Fay Ann, of Elk Grove, California; John Edward Holland of Baltimore, Maryland; four great-grandchildren, Jessica Anne Holland, Philip Robert Holland, Pauline Marie Holland and Samantha Lynn Holland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Holland; her son, Robert Thomas Holland; three brothers, Edward Joseph Lawlor Anna, Thomas Lawlor, and Francis Clyde Lawlor; and two sisters, Catherine Lawlor Fennimore and Dorothy Lawlor Harper. Her family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Sanford Home for Women where she resided for the past eight years, and to her family friend and helper, William Johnson of Amsterdam. The Office For The Burial Of The Dead will be read, and Holy Eucharist celebrated on Monday, January 5th 2009 at 11:00 am at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Division Street, Amsterdam. The Rev. Christopher A. Smith , Rector, officiating. Calling hours are from 2-4 pm Sunday, January 4th at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers , memorials may be made to Sanford Home for Women, in care of the funeral home office.
