Barbara Frisch

Obituary of Barbara A. Frisch

Saratoga Springs Barbara Angela Frisch, 67, passed away peacefully Friday, December 12, 2008 from complications associated with early onset Alzheimer's disease. On the day that the Lord came for Barbara he decorated the earth with a beautiful new fallen snow and painted the sky with a bright sunshine. The trees glistened and a robin appeared, a sign that Barbara is in Heaven. At the time of her death, Barbara was a resident of The Wesley Health Care Center where she was affectionately known as "Barbie". She was born October 20, 1941 the daughter of Lena Guiffre Lopez and the late Joseph Lopez. Barbara was born and raised in Amsterdam and attended St. Mary's Institute from Kindergarten through high school graduation. Following graduation Barbara attended The Amsterdam School of Commerce. She worked as a private secretary for Mohasco Industries and later as a teacher's assistant in the Gloversville School District. Barbara served as Vice-President of D.L. Frisch Electrical Co., in both Gloversville and Saratoga Springs. Barbara met her husband, David, at Sacandaga Lake. As a young couple they enjoyed spending time at the lake and taking their boat to Sand Island and Vandenburgh Beach. Barbara and David were married on April 29, 1961 at St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam. Barbara lived most of her adult life in the Gloversville and Saratoga area. In 1999, she and her husband relocated to North Carolina where they had planned to retire. In 2004, after being diagnosed, they moved back to Saratoga Springs to be closer to family as Barbara battled her disease. Barbara loved to cook. Her specialty was her homemade Italian sauce with a lot of garlic! She never followed a recipe and it sometimes took her the entire day to get the taste to her liking. She also enjoyed watching her son ride motocross and looked forward to the weekends away on the motocross circuit, where she had many friends. She lovingly looked after her family and enjoyed being a homemaker. Barbara loved animals and treated her pets as if they were part of the family. You could often times find Barb sitting on the couch with a cat on her lap and a dog at her feet. Barbara was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary often and prayed to St. Jude, the patron saint of hopeless causes. She was a communicant of St. Clements Church. In addition to her mother, Barbara's loving family includes her husband of over 47 years, David L. Frisch of Saratoga Springs, her daughter, Lisa Murray and her husband, Dr. James Murray of Wilton, her son, Michael Frisch and his wife Dr. Anna Frisch of Atlanta, GA, and her grandchildren, Kyle D. Klopstock, Taylor Murray, Jimmy Murray, Julia Frisch, Karolina Frisch and Baby Michael Frisch. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church in Saratoga Springs. Interment will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. Please visit the family's guestbook, online, at www.brbrsfuneral.com. Barbara fought her disease with dignity and fought to stay alive until her very last breath when the Lord came for her. In hopes of someday finding a cure, contributions in Barbara's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 640 Jackson Street, St. Paul, MN 55101-2595. Barbara will be sadly and lovingly missed.
