Obituary of Ann A. Murray

Ann A. Murray, 84, of Upper Franklin Street, passed away Thursday evening at St. Mary's Hospital, in Amsterdam, with her loving family at her side. Born April 24, 1924, in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine Jennings Grau. She lived most of her life in Fultonville and was a graduate of the Fonda High School. Ann first was employed as a cashier for the Victory Market in Fonda, and later worked for fourteen years as a teacher's aide for the Fonda- Fultonville Central Schools until retiring in 1984. She was a former member of the Fonda Pro-To club, and at one time served as Cub Scout Den Mother, Pack 44, in Schenectady. Ann was an active member of the Fonda High School Alumni, was a parishioner of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda and was a member of the Alter Rosary Society of the church. She used to bowl on leagues in Johnstown. Ann enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting and working on crossword puzzles. On October 7, 1950, she married the Hon. Thomas J. Murray, Sr., besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Thomas J. Murray, Jr. Judith of Glen, John W. Murray Christine of Tribes Hill, James P. Murray Robin of Fultonville, and Gerard C. Murray of Tribes Hill; two daughters, Kathleen Pepe Bill of Tribes Hill, and Mary Jo Murray Mary of Tribes Hill; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins Ann was predeceased by a brother Walter Grau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 24, at 10 am at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, 23 Broadway, Fonda, NY, with Fr. Patrick Gallagher, OFM, Conv. as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Assoc., 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205, or to the American Heart Assoc., 440 New Karner Road, Albany 12205.
