Obituary of Norma J. Claus

Norma Claus, 80, passed away Wednesday October 15, 2008 at her home in Mayfield after a short illness. Born in Broadalbin on November 27, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Harold and Marion Wilder. She married Robert Claus on April 3, 1954. They shared 38 years together in marriage until his death in 1992. Norma previously worked at the Fulton Co. Residential Healthcare Facility. She enjoyed babysitting and taking trips with her good friends Sandy Ernest and Victoria Wheaton. Survivors include three daughters: Vicky Simonds and her husband Keith of Gloversville, Joanne Claus of South Carolina and Jennifer Claus of Mayfield; three sons: Robert Claus and his wife Susan, Richard Claus and Karl Claus and his companion Maureen McGraff, all of Gloversville; a brother Harold Wilder of Canandaigua, NY; a step-daughter, Carol Duesler-Matiasovic; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a step-son, Larry Claus and three sisters: Virginia Cline, Kate Wassel and Shirley Knowlton. At the convenience of the family there will be a graveside service in Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield. Donations may be made in Norma's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home in Gloversville.
