Obituary of Bennie Frascatore

Bennie "Shookie" Frascatore, 82, of Mohawk Drive Tribes Hill, NY, passed on to be with his Lord on Monday, September 8, 2008 with his loving family by his side. Born in Amsterdam, March 29, 1926, he was a son of Benedito and Rose Peconie Frascatore. He was a resident of Amsterdam for most of his life and attended schools in the area. Mr. Frascatore went on to graduate from Casobone Barber School in the bowery of Manhattan. He worked for many years as a barber. He later became a construction contractor when moving to the Amsterdam area. He built several local homes and was involved in building the original Fulton-Montgomery Community College, the United Methodist Church in Amsterdam, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the former Nichols Department Store and former Grants Department Store. He was a past member and Elder of the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church and was a volunteer at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson. His loving family includes his son, Gary Joseph Frascatore of Tribes Hill, NY, his daughter, Terra Lynn Nasse and her husband Paul of Canajoharie, NY. One grandson, Jackson Tryon Nasse age 6 of Canajoharie, NY, and his godson, Robert Bienick of Colonie, NY. Several Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by two brothers, Fred and Joseph Frascatore and three sisters, Livia Coluni, Jeanette Stuve and Rosa Bienick. He was also predeceased by the mother of his children and former wife Janet Tryon who passed away on April 25, 2000. Mr. Frascatore's family would like to thank everyone involved in his care including, the staff at St. Mary's Hospital ICU, the E. R., St. Theresa Hall, and Physical Therapy, and to River Ridge's Rehab Center. Special thanks go to Dr. Michael Sheridan, Dr. Pizzaro, Dr. Roc, Dr. Tolge, Dr. Qualtere, Pastor Alan Potter and the staff at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Rev. Alan Potter, of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ames, officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home from 10:00 to 12:00 Noon. Contributions in Mr. Frascatore's memory may be made to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, 427 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
