Obituary of Gladys M. Ambrosino

Gladys M. Ambrosino "Rosebud", 89, died Friday September 5, 2008 at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home in Gloversville with her family at her side. She was born in Gloversville, NY on March 18, 1919 the daughter of the late Adam and Louella Stock Goodbread. Gladys was married to Salvatore Ambrosino on August 18, 1942.They shared over fifty-five years together until he passed away March 30, 1998. Gladys worked at Knit Tru in Gloversville for over thirty years as a glove stitcher. She was a member of the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary and a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Gloversville. Her hobbies included playing games, fishing, camping, dancing and collecting dolls and music boxes. Gladys also enjoyed eating hot dogs and ice cream sundaes. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her son, Ronald Ambrosino and his wife Sharon of Gloversville; two daughters: Patricia Carroll and her husband Robert of Carver, MA and Carolyn Lysogorski and her boyfriend Peter Gordon of Gloversville; a brother Arnold Goodbread and his wife Joyce of Gloversville; a sister Vernice Lasher of Liverpool, NY; seven grandchildren: Tammy Koga, Tina King, Ron Ambrosino, Daniel Ambrosino, Lisa Klaas, Michael Easterly and Elaine Christin; twelve great-grandchildren and her dearest friend, Simone Queeney. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Vivian Goodbread and three brothers: Kenneth, Merwin and Dayton Goodbread. Calling hours will be Sunday September 7 from 4 to 7pm at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, with an evening prayer service to be held at 6pm with the Rev. R.W. Williams. A morning prayer service will be held Monday at 9:15am from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak on Monday at 10am from St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Gloversville. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
