Obituary of Alfred C. Weil

Mr. Alfred C. Weil, 76 years old of Old Trail Road, died Monday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born July 23, 1932 in Saratoga, a son of William and Mary Beagle Weil Sheckton, moving to the Amsterdam area as a child where he had since resided. Mr. Weil served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Bamberg, Germany with the First Infantry Division. Mr. Weil had been employed by the former Mohawk Carpet Mills before working as a drill press operator with the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for over 17 years. He then went to work for Rayco on Edson Street in Amsterdam. Mr. Weil was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 701, VFW Post in Fonda and Johnstown Moose Lodge 1185. He was also a member of The Society of 40 Men & 8 Horses Voiture Local 814 and its National Box Car Association. Al married the former Caroline Hoffman Neal on February 9, 1980 who survives. Also surviving are his two sons Michael Toni Weil of Ft. Hunter and Thomas Weil of Gloversville; his daughter Karen Weil and her companion Tammy of Kansas City, Missouri; his stepson Jeffrey Andrea Neal of Little Rock, CA.; his stepdaughter Linda Thomas Hotaling of the Town of Glen; his brothers Walter Weil of Florida, Anthony Sheckton of Amsterdam and John Sheckton of Broadalbin; his sisters Harriet Hemstreet of Broadalbin, Lynn Frye of Fonda, Sharon Fisher of Tribes Hill and Lorraine Getman of Fonda; his grandchildren Erich, Scott, Ashley, Jessica, Crystal and Steven Weil; Jeffrey and Noel Neal; Tiffany and Brittany Hotaling, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Weil was predeceased by two sisters Martha Weil and Helene Bundinis. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
