Obituary of Paula Savola

Paula Savola, 77, of Van Avenue, passed away Friday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side. Born September 4, 1930 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of Walter and Marie Beier Brown. Paula was a life long resident of Amsterdam and she was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Paula was a homemaker. She was a avid bowler, member of the CB Club, member of the Travel Trailer Club and she enjoyed traveling especially to Myrtle Beach. Paula was a Parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. On March 24, 1951, she married G. Robert Savola who passed away in 2000. Survivors include a son, Bob Savola of Amsterdam; two daughters, Debbie VanDamme Speers and her husband Dan of Canandaigua, NY and Libby Pasquarelli and her husband Chris of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren, Julie Ridgeway, Matthew Savola, Sarah Jane Savola, Jeffrey VanDamme, Carla, Maria and Christopher Pasquarelli; a great granddaughter, Megan Marie Ridgeway; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her dog Heather who was her pride and joy. A prayer service will be held on Monday morning August 4, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15 AM at the St, Mary's Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson. Calling hours will be held on Monday morning one hour prior to the prayer service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
