Obituary of Louis C. Leo

Mr. Louis C. Leo, 91, of Crystal River, Florida, died July 27 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River. He was born September 30, 1916 in Syracuse, New York, son of the late Salvatore and Carmela Cosentino Leo. Mr. Leo was educated in Johnstown schools although leaving prior to graduation in an effort to help his family as so many did in that time period. Additionally, Mr. Leo served his country during WWII in the Army Air Force. Recently, in June, Mr. Leo was awarded an honorary High School Diploma from Johnstown High School. Early in his life he worked for the former Fownes Glove Co. as a glove cutter and also at Westbrook Glove Co. He had also worked for a time at Curtin Hebert as a machinist. Most of his life Mr. Leo was self-employed as a finished carpenter and a home builder. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church and St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Crystal River. A naturally creative person, Louis wrote a great deal of poetry of which his family is very proud. He also enjoyed many years of fishing with his special friends, Tony Ambrosino and Ed and Bob Perrone. Louis was an avid bowler in his earlier years and a 4th ward councilman. He is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Leo of Johnstown and Michele Leo of Havelock, North Carolina. Mr. Leo is also survived by his sisters, Anne Criscuolo of St. Johnsville, Rose Licardo of Gloversville and Mary Carl DeSimone of Colonie and his grandson, Nicholas Giorgio of Schenectady. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Anthony S. Leo, Sr. He also leaves many dear friends at Crystal River Village Mobile Home Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Friday at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 pm at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Burial with military honors will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to his family C/O Charlotte J.
