Obituary of Ralph E. Landwehr

Ralph E. Landwehr, Sr., 84, of Foster Street, Gloversville passed away Friday, July 11th, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, New York. Born in Middletown, New York on September 14, 1923, he was a son of Emerson and Sarah King Landwehr. He attended schools in Middletown, New York. Mr. Landwehr worked for over 57 years as a truck driver. He worked for Neptune Trucking out of Buffalo, New York and last worked for the Farm Bureau in Scotia, New York. Ralph was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for valor in battle. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Concordia Club and various other organizations. Ralph is survived by his companion of over 18 years, Evelyn Dunlap; six sons, Robert Landwehr Mildred of North Carolina, Ralph Landwehr, Jr. Diane of Buffalo, New York, Thomas Landwehr Cheryl of Tennessee, Paul Landwehr Sue of Buffalo, New York, Daryl Landwehr of Amsterdam and Greg Landwehr Dawn of Galway, New York; five daughters, Dianna Beyer of Georgia, Susan Kilmartin of Amsterdam, Deborah Blaha of Ft. Hunter, New York, Denise Landwehr of Amsterdam and Sarah Mowers of Georgia; his former wife Roberta Landwehr of Tennessee and one sister, Audrey Ayers of Middletown, New York. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Freemont St., Gloversville, New York. A graveside service with full military honors will take place on Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 11:00AM at the Ft. Plain Cemetery, Ft. Plain, New York.
