Obituary of Ida Kilmartin Ochampaugh

Ida Kilmartin Ochampaugh, 88, of Washington Street, Fultonville, NY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Ida was born on May 27, 1920, in Fultonville, NY, to Eugene Kilmartin and Myra Cross. She has been a life long resident of Fultonville. Ida graduated from Fultonville High School and attended Chicago School of Technology, where she studied business. Her career included owning and operating Maze's Hotel in Fonda and Idell Diner in Fultonville, with her late husband. She was also employed at General Electric in Schenectady and Premier Glove Corp. in Fultonville. Ida was a lifetime member of the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church. She currently was serving as a Trustee member and Secretary. She was co-chair of the Administrative Council and Secretary for the United Methodist Women's Association. She was past President for the Willing Workers, as well as a member and past Secretary for the American Heart Association, Montgomery County Chapter. Ida was very devoted to her church, family and friends, and she loved her cat Missy. Ida was predeceased January 16, 2005, by her husband, Elwyn Ochampaugh, whom she wed on December 6, 1946. She is survived by one step-daughter, Gloria Broderick Jack of Gloversville, a step-son, Wayne Ochampaugh of Schenectady, a sister, Florence Pulis of Fultonville, a brother, Alfred Hayes Susan of Amsterdam, six step-grandchildren, Michael Broderick of Albany, Timothy Broderick Cindy of Gloversville, Dr. John Broderick Manuela of Saratoga, Susan Rockefeller Mark of Pennsylvania, Steven Ochampaugh of Gloversville and Shari Miller Norman of Virginia, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ida was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Fogarty and Myra Mowry. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at 11 am at the Fonda- Fultonville United Methodist Church, Montgomery Street, Fultonville with the Rev. Nancy Pullen officiating. Burial will take place in the Maple Avenue Cemetery. The calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Ida's memory to the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church, c/o the funeral home.
