Obituary of Edith B. Riley

Mrs. Edith B. Riley, 92 formerly of Gloversville, died Sunday at Pine View Commons in Johnstown where she had been residing several weeks. Born September 26, 1915 in Utica, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marguerite Graystone Booth. Mrs. Riley was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and Excelsior Business School of Utica. She began her working career at Savage Arms and then as executive secretary to the president of Mohawk Cabinet. Mrs. Riley came to Gloversville in the late 1960's in that work capacity as the business located to Gloversville. She subsequently accepted similar positions with Atty. Charles Jenkins Esq. and the late Judge Michael Mazzone. Edith was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Rosary Society, Gloversville Moose Lodge and the American Legion Aux. An avid golfer much of her life, she wintered in Myrtle Beach for fifteen year with her husband Richard W. Riley of Johnstown whom she married February 18, 1950. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Marguerite Duffy of Oneonta, a nephew, Michael Duffy of New Hartford , nieces; Phyllis Duffy of Ft. Plain, Karen Clinton of Stittville, N.Y. and Barbara Willers of Trumansburg, N.Y., several grand nieces and nephews. Mrs. Riley was pre-deceased by a sister, Natalie Duffy, a brother Walter S. Booth, two nephews; Thomas W. Duffy and William Duffy, nieces; Patricia Williams and Maureen Duffy. A special heartfelt thank you to the many neighbors and friends for their kindness and generosity. A memorial funeral mass will be celebrated 11 am Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, 189 Kingsboro Avenue, Gloversville. There will be no calling hours. Cremation took place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
