Obituary of Richard W. Curtis

Fultonville Richard W. Curtis, 70, of Union Street passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Albany V.A. Hospital in Albany. He was born in Rutland, Vermont February 24, 1938 a son of the late Bernice Lucille Curtis. Richard grew up in Vermont and graduated from High School in the Rutland area. He then served his country in the US ARMY from 1956 to 1958. In later years, he relocated to New York State, residing in Fultonville for the past 10 years. Richard was very handy with tools. He loved doing woodwork, working on cars, and anything to do with building. He even owned and operated his own construction business in past years. Richard worked as a Bus Driver for Trailways out of Kingston for several years. Following retirement, he worked part-time for Brown's Transportation in Amsterdam and was also a member of the Fultonville Vol. Fire Dept. for nearly 10 years. In addition to his mother, Richard, was predeceased by a son, Ronald "Ronnie" Curtis. His loving family includes his companion of 10 years, Glenda Myers of Fultonville, his daughter, Cynthia Wagner of North Troy, and his three sons, David and John Curtis, both of Cohoes, and Dale Curtis of Waterford. Eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 Noon on Monday, June 16, 2008 at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams of Mt. Valley Hospice, officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow the service at 2:30PM at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to services beginning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
