Obituary of Marion A. Serge

Marion A. Serge, 96, formerly of the Stratton Apartments, Division Street, passed away peacefully Friday morning at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam on July 25, 1911, she was the daughter of Paul and Fillipa Buccaferri Anostario. A lifelong resident, Marion attended local schools. She worked as a seamstress for Chalmer's for a number of years until she retired. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church and at one time was a member of it's seniors and the Third Order Of St. Francis. She was also a member of the Community, Hi-Lo Seniors and Columbian Social Club Women's Auxiliary. An avid bowler, Marion was a member of the Friends And Relations League. She and her late husband loved to travel, and together with family they made a special trip in 1980 to Italy which she always cherished. She was the last member of her siblings, and in addition to her parents, cared for her dear sister, Catherine. Her brothers, Joseph and Giacomo "Jake" as well as her sister Catherine Anostario all predeceased her. Marion's beloved husband, August "Augie" Serge, whom she married on Sept. 3, 1939 , predeceased her on May 15, 1992. Her loving family includes her nephews, Paul A. , Michael and Joseph Anostario; sister in law, Rose Salamack; brothers in law Dominick and Joseph Serge; as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Services are Tuesday at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church. Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti, celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Marion's name to St. Michael's Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home office.
