Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Rulison

Mary Elizabeth Rulison, 87, of Shellstone Road, passed away Tuesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, after a short illness. Born February 14, 1921, in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Antoinette Van Horne Ernest. At the age of 10, upon the death of her parents, Mary Elizabeth lived with her uncle and aunt, the late D. Schuyler and Ella Van Horne in the Town of Florida. She was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School, and after, attended Syracuse University for two years. Mary Elizabeth was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Carlisle from 1946 to 1967, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a release time religious instructor. In recent years she was a member of the Family Bible Church on Thayer Road in the Town of Florida, where she was also the church pianist and organist. On November 2, 1940, Mary Elizabeth married Wm. Howard Rulison beekeeper, who passed away February 5, 2003. Mary Elizabeth was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; she also loved gardening, flower gardening and bird watching. Survivors include her loving family, a son Mark H. Rulison and his wife Loraine of the Town of Florida; two daughters, Mary Lisa Rulison of Granada, MN, and Faith Ann Tangen and her husband Edward of Carlisle; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law and two brothers- in law. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6, 2008, at 11 am at the Family Bible Church, Thayer Road, Amsterdam with the Reverend Dennis Burke officiating. Burial will take place in the Grove Cemetery in Delanson. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Elizabeth's memory to Global Recordings Network, c/o the funeral home.
