Obituary of Marilyn Gotay

Miss Marilyn Gotay, 45, of Hibbard St., Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday May 13th, 2008 at her home in Amsterdam. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on November 2nd, 1962 a daughter of Eugenio and Lydia Luciano Gotay. She was raised in Brooklyn, NY and attended Brooklyn, NY schools. She moved to the Amsterdam area five years ago. She was a member of Liberty's day treatment center and was involved in Liberty's work program. Marilyn was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Marilyn loved children especially her nieces and nephews very much. She also enjoyed playing video games, playing on the computer, keeping house and being a hostess. Miss Gotay also enjoyed crossword puzzles and animals. Marilyn is survived by her parents Eugenio and Lydia Gotay of Amsterdam. Two brothers, Joseph Gotay of Amsterdam and Eugene Gotay of New Jersey. One sister, Lorraine Gotay of Amsterdam and a half sister, Veronica Gotay of Florida. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, David DeAngelo, Stephanie DeAngelo, Ruqayuh Richards, Chastity Gotay, D.J. DeAngelo, Jammaris Cintron, Ashley Dueno, Aloni DeAngelo, Natalie DeAngelo, Sofia Gotay, Tyler Gotay and Dillon Gotay. Her nieces and nephews always referred to their Aunt Marilyn as "Guido". Aunts, Uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father Jun Segura presiding. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday beginning at 12:00Noon at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
