Obituary of Sophie L. Marsicano

Sophie L. Marsicano, 90, formerly of 317 West Main St., passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at the E.L. Wilkinson RHCF, where she resided and received such excellent and professional care. The daughter of lovely parents, the late Frank and Frances Priore Marsicano, whom she lovingly cared for, she was a lifelong resident and attended local schools . She also completed several extensive professional cosmetic and beautician courses. Sophie was proprietor and operator of the Sophie Lee House Of Beauty for many years. She was a communicant of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Santa Sofia Society, Rosary Altar Society, former St. Rita Sodality and St. Agnello Auxiliary as well as several professional cosmetology associations. She will always be remembered as a generous, solid, loving, understanding and very fair person, who cared for both loved ones and friends. Sophie happily helped all those in need, whenever she possibly could. She loved to laugh and to work in her beautiful flower garden. Her family and friends will miss her beautiful smile and warm generous ways. They would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone for their prayers and visits, especially to Fr. Decker, Mrs. Kathleen Jones , administrator of Wilkinson Center and her entire staff at all levels, and to Hospice for their care, deep kindness and compassion shown to Sophie in her last years. Her loving family includes her sister Anne Coluni Late Husband John of Amsterdam; brothers; Albert Marsicane Late wife, Virginia of Whitesboro, NY, John Marsicano, and his wife Rosemary of Greenboro, N.C., and Vito Marsicano and his wife Christine of Leeds, Al., ten nieces, five nephews and ten cousins all of whom she loved deeply. Her sister, Carmela Romano Late husband Frank "Chappie" passed away last week. Services are Saturday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church, Grove Street. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker and Fr. Victor Polito will con-celebrate. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish to remember Sophie in a special way, may contribute to St. Michael's Memorial Fund, Hospice Of Amsterdam or the Wilkinson Activities Center, all in care of the funeral home office.
