Obituary of Rose Canale

Mrs. Rose Canale, 89 years old, formerly of Amsterdam, NY, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Sabal Palms Health Center in Largo where she had been a patient for a week. Mrs. Canale was born August 19, 1918 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Stefano and Marion Juliano DeLorenzo and attended Amsterdam Schools. Mrs. Canale served an apprenticeship as a hairdresser under the late Diamond Califano. She was the co-owner of the former Lee Ann Beauty Salon. After her retirement, she and her husband moved to Largo, Florida, where she had since resided. Mrs. Canale was a communicant of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and a member of its Choir. She was also a member of the Amsterdam Hairdressers Association. Her husband, the late Nicholas L. Canale, predeceased her. Mrs. Canale is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her special friends, Jean and Bud Pruitt, of Largo, Fla. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed at 11:15am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Church.
