Obituary of Carmela Marsicano Romano

Carmela Marsicano Romano, 88, of Bridgewater, New Jersey, formerly of Amsterdam, New York and Del Ray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 30th at The Arbor Glen Holly Center in New Jersey. Born in Amsterdam, New York on December 29, 1919, she was the daughter of the late and Frank N. Marsicano and Frances Priore Marsicano. Mrs. Romano was a parishioner and communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church and a lifetime member and past President of the Saint Sofia Society. She was also a member of Antler's Country Club, where she enjoyed golfing with her husband, the late Frank R. Romano, to whom she was married in 1941. Mrs. Romano is survived by her two daughters; Mrs. Immaculate M. "Mackey" Duch of Denville, New Jersey and Mrs. Roberta E. Peters of Virginia Beach, Virginia and their husbands, Richard H. Duch and Donald A. Peters. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Lisa A. Delfini, Richard A. Dutch, and Seth D. Peters; five great grandchildren, her sisters and brothers; Miss Sophie Marsicano, Mrs. Anne Coluni, Mr. Albert Marsicane, Mr. John Marsicano and his wife Rosemary, and Mr. Vito Marsicano and his wife Christine, as well as several cousins, thirteen nieces and nephews, and a number of grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, at 10:00AM at the Betz, Rossi, and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, New York. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Internment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mrs. Romano's name may be made to the Ralph Fedullo Scholarship Fund, St. Anne Institute, 160 North Main Avenue, Albany, New York 12206 or The Arbor Glen Benevolence Fund made out to Friends Retirement Concepts, Inc. at 100 Monroe St, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
