Obituary of Virginia McCullough

Virginia "Ginny" McCullough, 76, of Stinson Avenue passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Queens County on August 10, 1931 a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Matulitis Machulis. Ginny was raised and attended schools on Long Island. She married Robert McCullough on May 10, 1954 at St. Elizabeth's Church in Woodhaven. Together, they made their home in East Meadow on Long Island until they relocated to Tribes Hill 20 years ago. Ginny enjoyed traveling, taking rides into New York to see a show, attending the Outdoor Theater in Jones Beach, and spending time with her husband and soul-mate, Robert. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends, and especially by Robert and her best friend, Donna. Her loving family includes her husband of nearly 54 years, Robert "Bob" McCullough of Tribes Hill, her sister, Gloria Rogers of Massapequa, nieces and nephews, Stephen Rogers of Massapequa, MaryEllen Cronk of Beacon, Paul McCullough of Washington, John McCullough of Piermont, Deborah Vatchis of Farmingdale and Gina Colombo of Levittown. She is also survived by her very dear friends, Donna and Edward Emmrich of Amsterdam. In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Machulis. Funeral Services will be at 10:15AM on Monday, April 28, 2008 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main St., Amsterdam. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00PM at the funeral home. Contributions in Ginny's memory may be made to Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
