Obituary of Edith McLouth

Mrs. Edith McLouth, 95 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam, where she had been a patient since June of 2003. Mrs. McLouth was born September 11, 1912 in Broadalbin, NY, a daughter of William and Kate Colony Weiderman, and attended Broadalbin Schools. She moved to Amsterdam in 1941 where she had since resided. Mrs. McLouth was employed as a sewing machine operator for various industries in Amsterdam and was last employed by the former Mohawk Sportswear, retiring in 1978. Mrs. McLouth was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Faithful Followers of the church and the Hi-Lo Seniors. Edith enjoyed good health and always had a positive attitude. At Wilkinson she enjoyed bingo and had a smile for everyone. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her friends and family. She married Mehrley McLouth September 11, 1937. He died April 28, 1961. Mrs. McLouth leaves three children, Melanie Zumbolo of Amsterdam, Meredith Bud McLouth of Oakland, CA and Judi Lethbridge of New London, CT; three grandchildren, Cheri Zumbolo of Amsterdam, Thomas Renee Zumbolo of Gloversville and Brian Stephanie Zumbolo of Eagan, MN; and four great grandchildren, Isabella, William, Evan and Dillon Zumbolo. She is survived by two brothers, Lester Madeline Weiderman of Perth and Arthur Mary Weiderman of Broadalbin and three sisters, Dorothy Weiderman of Broadalbin, Helen Farsdahl of Puyallup, WA and Clara John Steffek of Broadalbin as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. McLouth was predeceased by three brothers; Howard, Floyd and Robert; four sisters, Ethel, Hazel, Bernice, Thelma; and her son-in-law, Thomas Zumbolo. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of her family. There will be no calling period. Cremation will take place at Vale Crematorium in Schenectady. Interment of her cremated remains will be in the Broadalbin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made: St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24 Pine Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
