Obituary of Shawn S. Leonard

Shawn Stephen Leonard, Sr. 48, of Evergreen Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2008 at his home with his family at his side. A resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming for the past twenty-four years and former resident of Amsterdam, New York, Mr. Leonard had been in ill health for the past several years. He was born on November 14, 1959 in Amsterdam, NY, the son of the late Clayton Hamilton and Marie E. Fonda Leonard. Mr. Leonard attended school in Amsterdam, New York. He married Joyce Lynn Prill Leonard in Reliance, Wyoming on December 30, 1992. Mr. Leonard was employed as a machinist for G.T. Machines for the past six years. His interests included racing, loved working on cars, avid collector of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. memorabilia, spending time with his family, working Suduko puzzles and playing chess. Survivors include his wife Joyce Leonard of Rock Springs, Wyoming; three sons John Leonard, Michael Leonard, and Shawn Stephen Leonard, Jr. all of Rock Springs, Wyoming; three sisters Estella E. Leonard and companion Elmer Rossi of Amsterdam, New York, Gail Guyette and husband Ernest all of Amsterdam, New York and Carol Potter and husband Stephen of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two grandchildren Corin Leonard and Blake Leonard; several nieces and nephews; and all of his many friends. He was preceded in death by his son Nicholas Leonard; four brothers and four sisters Ronald Leonard, Marguerite Birch, Kathleen Leonard Conniff, Walter Leonard, Raymond Leonard, Alfred Leonard, Dawn Allard and Linda McCumber. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 23, 2008 at 2:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon to 2:00P.M. at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
