Obituary of Nancy Viscusi

Nancy Viscusi, 89, of DeStefano Street, Amsterdam, passed away suddenly Saturday morning at the home of her daughter in Herndon, Virginia. Born in Amsterdam on January 27, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Michelena Guiliani DiCaterino. Educated locally, she lived here her entire life. Nancy was an accomplished seamstress, and worked for many years for the former Hanover Dress Shop until she retired. She was a communicant of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and was a member of it's Christian Women's Society. On June 8, 1941, she was united in marriage to Guerino "Gary" Viscusi who predeceased her on Sept. 29, 2001. Nancy also lost her loving daughter, Joan A. Whalen in 2000 and her cherished grandson Gerald R. "Butch" Trejderowski in 1997. Nancy was the last of ten children, all of whom predeceased her; brothers Henry, James, Daniel, Lewis and Ralph; and sisters Elizabeth, Laura, Betty and Joanna. Her family and friends and many who considered her their mom will miss her unique sense of humor and her great lemon cookies. Her loving family includes her daughters; Michele Venezia and her husband Angelo of Herndon, Va., and Kathleen Egbert of Fairfax, Va.; grandchildren; Rebekah Venezia Mercer and her husband Andrew, Alexander Venezia, Neil Egbert all of Virginia and Kathryn "Kate" Egbert of, California; nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are Thursday at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home where the Christian Women's Society will gather for prayers at 4:30 pm. Contributions may be made to Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.
