Obituary of Mildred Fallis

Mildred "Mickey" Seelow Fallis, 87, of Gloversville, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 12, 2008, after being stricken at home. She was born in Gloversville on September 18, 1920, the daughter of Herbert and Rosa Welsh Seelow. She was educated in Gloversville schools and was a graduate of Nathan Littauer School of Nursing, Class of 1941. She was licensed in both Florida and New York. Mrs. Fallis was employed at the office of Dr. John V. Fernandez as well as Nathan Littauer and Johnstown Hospitals prior to her retirement. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville and was active in Sacred Heart's Social Club and Nathan Littauer Nursing Alumni Association. She enjoyed her family, knitting, outdoor activities and camping in the Adirondacks. Mickey will be truly missed by her family and friends. She was married to John T. Fallis on October 24, 1942. John predeceased her in August of 2007. She is survived by a daughter: Linda Hammond of Gloversville; six grandchildren: Douglas Furlong, Beth Furlong Margolis, Michelle Furlong Bartz, Evan Fallis, Erin Fallis Sutton and Jared Hammond and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Harold Seelow; a son, John D. Fallis and a daughter, Jacquelyn Fallis Furlong. Mrs. Fallis made a generous contribution to medicine by participating in the Anatomical Gift Program of Albany Medical College. A memorial service was held Saturday, April 19 at 3 p.m. at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams presiding. A memorial visitation with video tribute was held Saturday, April 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, May 9 at Sacred Heart Church. Donations may be made in Mickey's memory to the Gloversville Senior Center, 53 Church Street, Gloversville 12078 or to the Gloversville Public Library, 58 East Fulton Street, Gloversville 12078.
