Obituary of Anna A. English

Mrs. Anna A. English, 74, of Abeling Street, Canajoharie. NY passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Albany Medical Center. Born on August 16, 1933 in Long Island she was the daughter of the late Werner and Katherine Tanzons Herms. She grew up in Fultonville and was a graduate of Fultonville High School. Mrs. English worked for a time for General Electric in Schenectady. It was there that she met her husband of over 48 years, Mr. James M. English. When she moved to Canajoharie she started a career with the Canajoharie Library as an executive secretary until her retirement. She also worked for the paper for a time. Anna was an avid gardener, flower arranger and floral show judge. She served as National Garden Club Master Flower Show Judge and also served a District 5 Director for the Federated Garden Clubs of NYS Inc. She was a member of the Canajoharie- Fort Plain Garden Club and a Past President. She also was a co- chair of the Fonda Fair. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and reading. She was a wonderful wife, who loved life and will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, two brothers, John Herms Liz Kiuber of Fultonville, NY and Rudolph and Carol Herms of Florida; one sister, Katherine Bloschak of Florida; a special niece, Lori Overrocker Richard Burroughs of Glen, NY and a nephew Jonathan Herms of Glen, NY; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 1st, 2008 at 10 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. Interment will follow in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5 until 7 Monday evening at the funeral home.
