Obituary of Jay Henry Romeyn

Jay Henry Romeyn, 78, of County Highway 107, Fort Johnson, passed away Tuesday evening at his home, with his loving family at his side. Born January 28, 1930, in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late George and Mildred Coons Romeyn. He was a graduate of the Christian Brothers Academy in Albany. Jay was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany for three years. He owned and operated J & R Home Improvement in Amsterdam and also worked for Fiberglass Industries in Amsterdam and Kem's Cleaners in Scotia, until retiring due to ill health. He attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. He loved bowling, and loved to watch professional wrestling on TV. He cherished his dog Buttons. He was predeceased by a brother Gerald Romeyn. On October 15, 1963, he married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Green. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters Jayne Tambasco Frank of Broadalbin, Eileen Tambasco Ronald, and Evelyn Del Costello Ronald, of Perth; a son John Tatlock of Perth; eleven grandchildren Melanie Hamm, Jarrod Sweet, Michael Tambasco, Ryan Tambasco, Jessica Tambasco, Victoria Tambasco, Breton Tambasco, Turner Jay Tambasco, Ashley Tatlock, Brittany Tatlock and John Tatlock, Jr.; four great grandchildren Zackary Hamm, Adam Sweet, Lindsay Sweet, Devin Richards; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 28, 2008 at 1pm at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, with the Rev. Dr. Williams officiating. Burial will take place in the Green Hill Cemetery in Amsterdam. A calling hour will be held March 28, 2008, from 12 pm to 1 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078 or charity of one's choice, c/o the funeral home.
