Obituary of Laura A. Brownell

Laura Argersinger Brownell, 92, of Tribes Hill, formerly a resident of Park Hill Adult Home, passed away Thursday February 28, 2008 at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam. She was born March 29, 1915 in Ft. Johnson, NY a daughter of Daniel W. and Ruth Smith Argersinger. She attended rural school in Mill Point, NY and later graduated form Amsterdam High School. She worked for the former Bottle Gas Co, Norge Gas Co of Amsterdam for over thirty years. She later worked part time at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following her retirement. Laura joined the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church 1958. The church played a major role in her life. She was a member of the Church Guild and was also a Deacon of the church. Mrs. Brownell was also a member of the Iroquois Seniors of Tribes Hill, NY. She was married to Scott Brownell in June of 1959, he died in 1993. Laura is survived by her Step-Son, Charles Brownell of North Carolina, a step-daughter, Margylyn White of Houston, TX, a sister-in-law, Jean Phillips of Tribes Hill, and a dear friend, Marjorie Dunlavey of Tribes Hill. Seven step-grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her husband and parents, Laura was predeceased by three brothers, Wilson, George and Harry Argersinger. Funeral Services will be at 2:00PM Today Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with Rev. Lois Dodge, presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the services from 1:00 to 2:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maple Ave Cemetery, Fultonville, NY. Contributions in Laura's memory may be made to Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church in care of the funeral home.
