Obituary of Mary A. Ferraro

Mary A. Ferraro, 82, of West Grand Street, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2008 following a brief illness at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville. She was born December 26, 1925 a daughter of the late Michael and Arcangela Bergantino Palma. Mary was born and raised in Milford, MA and was a graduate of Milford High School. Following high school, Mary attended Wilfred Academy in Mass. and obtained her certification in Hair Styling and Cosmetology. She worked in the Boston area for some time before returning to Milford to manage a hair salon in the area. On January 29, 1959 she married F. Richard Ferraro and together they settled in Palatine Bridge, NY to start their family. He predeceased her on June 22, 2000. Mary was of Roman Catholic faith and was a parishioner of St. James Church in Fort Plain. Her loving family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Mooney of Fairport, NY, her son and daughter-in-law, Ric and Jacquie Ferraro of Grand Forks, ND, her grandsons, James and Kevin Mooney of Fairport, and her sisters-in-law, Louise Galvin of Syracuse and Rosemary Ornelas and her husband Al of Oceanside, CA. Several nieces and nephews along with their families also survive. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was predeceased by a sister and a brother-in-law, Lena and Angelo Ferrario, a brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Louise Palma, and a nephew, Michael Palma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 15, at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Ft. Plain, NY. Interment will be at a later date in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday evening at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. Flowers are acceptable; however, those wishing to make a donation in Mary's memory may give to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
