Obituary of Frederick E. Frye

Frederick E. Frye, 78, of 15 Lenox Street, Gloversville, passed away at Nathan Littauer Hospital January 28, 2008. He was born February 2, 1929 the son of Rieta Bombard and William H. Frye. Mr. Frye attended Gloversville schools and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1948. He served in the Army as Military Police from 1950 to 1952. He worked as a yarn spinner at the former Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam. He worked at General Electric in Schenectady and went into business with his father in 1974 at Dyeoil Co. formerly of 14 Hill Street, Gloversville and served as president of the company until he purchased Dygas Co. and moved the business to 564 North Perry Street in Johnstown in 1977 and is still in business today. He married Dolores A. Hill, who survives, April 27, 1956. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters: Cheryl L. Acquilla Louie of Gloversville and Crystal J. Frye of Johnstown; two sons: David F. Frye Mary Hope of Mayfield and William J. Frye of Gloversville; six grandchildren: Penny A. Piper Frank, Adam Acquilla Diane, Marielyse and Daniel Frye and Frederick and Sarah Johnson; a stepmother: Nina Vosburgh Champion Frye of Mayfield; one sister: Muriel Turner Ray of Poughkeepsie; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Rieta, his father, William, a brother, Richard Frye and two sons: Jeffrey and Stephen Frye. Family and friends are invited and may call Thursday, January 31 from 4-7 p.m. at the Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will take place that evening at 7 p.m. with the Reverend Bob Lair presiding. An urn burial will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Frye's memory to the charity of one's choice.
